Her Journey:

Belonging from a South Indian middle-class family, it was not at all a cup of tea to achieve something at this level. She was born on October 28, 1955, in Tamil Nadu, India. Her father worked at the State Bank in Hyderabad(SBH) and her grandfather was a district judge. After completing her graduation in Physics, Chemistry, Maths in 1974 she went to Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta to do Masters in Finance and Marketing.

After having an MBA degree she joined ABB and Johnson and Johnson (J&J) in Mumbai as a product manager. But she was not satisfied, she was wanting something bigger than this and to achieve that she pursue her study at Yale management School in the US & earned a Master degree in Public and Private Management in 1978.

While studying at Yale she was working as a receptionist to buy a western dress for her first interview.  She was so uncomfortable in that dress that she has rejected from the company. Later one of her Professor advised her to ‘be yourself’, wear whatever you are comfortable with. So, she decided to wear saree, from then till now she prefers to wear saree with a bindi for any event or official ceremonies.

In PepsiCo:

Before landing in the world of PepsiCo, she worked with Boston Consulting Group and Motorola. After serving Senior Vice President and Chief Financial officer. She was elected as Board of Directors and became President and Chief Financial Officer in 2001. In 2006 she surpassed everyone’s imagination by doing so much hard work and raised the company’s net profit more than doubled to USD 5.6 billion.

However, she focused on debuting new product lines, targeted marketing, and new repackaging. The group also launched a “refresh everything” campaign featuring Pepsi Natural and Mountain dew, made with all-natural ingredients.

According to Forbes, she is now 12th highest-paid corporate women in the US. Her annual pay package of over USD 12.7 million. She is now the most powerful women in the world like Sonia Gandhi and Oprah Winfrey and. She is the mother of two daughters as well as she is the member of the Boards of the Lincoln Center for her amazing zeal towards Art. Being such a great personality she is very simple and down to earth with a great sense of humor.
